Description

*Pre-Registered Event

Focused echo (a.k.a. point of care cardiac ultrasound) is an essential diagnostic tool performed in symptomatic small animal patients in the acute care setting. It is most helpful in the timely diagnosis of pericardial effusion, congestive heart failure, structural heart diseases and to provide estimates of fluid responsiveness. Importantly, a focused echo should be part of a more comprehensive and integrated thoracic ultrasound including interrogation of the pleural space, and lungs.  In this four-hour lab with live (sedated) dogs, we will maximize "probe-time” and focus on improving your image acquisition. Under the guidance of experts in the point of care ultrasound, we will help you to know how to position and move the ultrasound probe to obtain high quality images of the heart.
